The coronavirus and our measures

Measures taken by KPN NetwerkNL regarding the coronavirus

KPN NetwerkNL is currently engaged in installing a fiber optic network in more than 70 areas. It goes without saying that the health of the residents and our staff are our foremost concern while this work is being performed. This is why KPN NetwerkNL is taking a number of precautionary measures in relation to the developments concerning the coronavirus. We are keeping a close eye on the guidelines issued by the government and the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and are in close contact with our contractors. Therefore, our measures are reviewed on a daily basis.

Work performed indoors

When performing work indoors and around your house, our staff will observe a number of strict precautionary measures. As these measures ensure that any risk of contagion is restricted to the greatest extent possible there is currently no reason for us to postpone this work. KPN NetwerkNL takes the following precautionary measures:

  • The installer will not visit your house if anyone living there has a cough, is ill and/or has a cold. Is this the case? Cancel your appointment.
  • Our employees will always maintain a distance of at least 1.5 metres.
  • We ask you to clean the rooms our installer will need to work in.
  • Our installer will ask you to wait in another room while he is at work.

The government has created an infographic (in Dutch) about the measurements taken while working indoors.

Work performed outdoors

Our employees strictly observe the guidelines issued by the RIVM while they are working. They will not shake hands and will regularly wash their hands. Additionally, they will only go to work if they are entirely free of symptoms. They will also try to maintain a distance of at least 1.5 metres from one another during work and on breaks. If they cannot maintain this distance due to the nature of the work at hand, they will work in consistent, small groups.

Events and informative sessions cancelled

KPN NetwerkNL has decided to cancel all events attended by many participants for the time being. If any events are cancelled in your neighbourhood, we will notify you of this by post or e-mail. We will, of course, inform you once these events have been rescheduled.

A stable network that you can depend on

The network is of crucial importance to the Netherlands. Particularly when almost everyone is working from home, or wants to video chat with their family. Hundreds of our employees are dedicated to creating and maintaining the most stable and reliable network possible for you, each and every day. If you have any questions, please contact our fiber optic information point.
